Estate Planning for non-married partners

If you are not married to your partner, but you would like to:

Leave property to your partner at your death;

Have your partner make medical decisions for you if you are unable;

Have your partner make financial decisions for you if you are unable;

Have your partner make burial decisions for you if you are unable;

You must prepare estate planning documents. The law allows spouses to do all of these things automatically. The law does not allow domestic partners to do these things automatically.
